About Me

My photo
I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. I am still living in the area, although I spent 3 years in Germany (Stuttgart). Fighting the age long battle against the bulge. Some days I am winning, some days the bulge is winning. I hang out with my dogs (three toy fox terrierists) and husband.

Messy Desk - before and after

I have a problem.

I am not a neat person when it comes to my workbench or desk or counter. I am pack rat. I don't put things away and ultimately - madness prevails.
It's awful. You can click on the pictures to see how awful it really is.
Last last Friday night (it was a dark and snowy night), my beading angel - Sandy - came over to help me with my madness. She pointed me in the right direction with what to do, where I should start, and how I should progress. We made a lot of progress in one night. I still have a long way to go, but there is a huge dent in the mess.

My homework from this event was to look at all my beading magazines from 1998 to current (both Bead & Button and Beadwork) and decide what I wanted to keep, what projects I wanted to copy and what I wanted to get rid of. I decided on about 10 articles - and I am selling all my magazines, especially the ones that I haven't looked at in over 5 years. I think the auction starts tomorrow.

Now, I am afraid to bead because I might mess it up!!!

Seems like the "organizing/clean up" bug has hit most of the beaders I know lately. I pass on to you the advice No Easy Beads gave to me when I cleaned up.... "quick, throw some random beads out on your beading surface" then maybe you'll feel like beading

Thanks Judith - did the snow melt yet?

Wow, it looks great, Liz! It *almost* inspires me to organize my stitching stash. Note I said, "ALMOST". LOL

The hardest part about cleaning up the mess is that you can't leave it clean for long. The cleaniness will steal your creativity. I spend all that time cleaning my room and with a blink of an eye I can (I did) have it all back the way it was before. Your room looks wonderful!!

At least you have space to be messy. I live in a one room apartment...=:0

Hi! This is the first time I've visted your blog.

My main reason for not straightening too often is that I can't find anything afterwards. I end up searching for something I just put away....which leaves everything messy all over again...which pretty much defeats the purpose in the first place. And that's my excuse. ;-D
